Bronx, NY… On Thursday, April 24th, the Bronx River Art Center (BRAC) will host an experimental indie-rock concert at Drew Gardens, which is located across the street from the center. This outdoor spring performance will morph the innovative music of VIDEOHIPPOS, Japanther and Ninjasonik, who will share the stage to premiere a musical collaboration composed specifically for BRAC. Bronx residents and local fans will have the chance to witness the collective raucousness and antics of these individuals who, along with traditional instruments, also employ video projections, electronics, toys and telephones.

VIDEOHIPPOS performs soundtracks created specifically for video art pieces that are projected during their performances. The mix and live syncopation of sound and image reflect personal and pop culture influences that are anchored by the stick skills of Kevin O'Meara (drums, vocals, keys) and melodic weavings of Jim Triplett (guitar, vocals, keys). Their power and precision are further rectified with toy instruments, sampled beats, and gasmasks.

After five years and 1000 shows, Japanther has entered legendary territory, naturally combining catchy hooks, heart-pounding beats and frenetic energy with DIY aesthetics. From basements to museums, Ian Vanek (drums, vocals, beats) and Matt Reilly (bass guitar, vocals, keys) have collaborated with influential visual artists, created puppet operas, and have been notorious for being "super hard, incredibly fast, and overall inspiring" (Thrasher Magazine).

Ninjasonik could be described as a fusion of G.G. Allin and Old Dirty Bastard on a sweaty dance floor. The group is the brainchild of Reverend McFly and DJ Teenwolf, who together mix ferocious lyrics with hard-hitting electronic beats. Their first single "Tight Pants" has become an underground anthem amongst New York scenesters, and their follow up "Mixtapes" has also generated a swelling buzz.
