Xavier Figueroa
BRAC Teaching Artist, 3D and Technology, 2013 - 2015
Xavier Figueroa is a Bronx-based visual artist working in installation, painting, sculpture, and other media to create "Experiences". With a background in architecture, carpentry, graffiti, and fine art, he creates work that invokes a familiarity to urban environments, using his roots and personal memories. The result is a three-dimensional illustration of his memory for others to explore.
Why I Teach: “
I teach because knowledge of any kind should be passed along and shared with others to help them grow. This is an age-old tradition of artists in general who wish to preserve their philosophies, ideas, work ethic, and techniques. It also allows me to learn from the students, as they are always bringing new perspectives to creating art, which makes the process an amazing synergy.
