Refund Policy: Full refund available 48 hours before classes begin, partial refunds to the second week. You can either contact the education office at above emails or request refund directly through Eventbrite. Contact us as soon as possible especially if you need a refund for a Pottery (wheel-throwing) class since that is a popular class that sells out quickly due to class size limits and we have a waiting list ready.

POTTERY WHEEL THROWING for Teens and Adults - 6:30 to 8:30pm
Instructor: Ana Ruiz-Castillo
This course introduces students to creating ceramic forms utilizing the potter's wheel. A range of techniques will be demonstrated as starting points to using the wheel as a tool for creating forms. The design, function, decoration, and presentation of the thrown forms will be emphasized through course assignments.
PAINTING AND DRAWING for Ages 7+ - 4:30 to 6:30pm
Instructor: Shawn Hill
FIVE-WEEK CLASS starting January 8. From pencil to watercolor and acrylic paints, students will learn different ways to express themselves through art and learn the basics of composition, form and color.
MANGA AND CARTOONING for Teens - 4:30 to 6:30pm
Instructor: Gregory Maldonado
This class focuses on learning about the structures of manga / anime characters using shapes and anatomy for movement. Students will focus on the creation of Chibi Style caricatures, develop pacing, setting up scenes using panels, working with depth, and the use of lighting and shadow techniques. Students will work on developing their own manga and anime characters to tell their own stories.
DIGITAL ANIMATION for Ages 8+ - 4:30 to 6:30pm
Instructor: Tony Burstion
After some fundamentals and a brief history of animation the class will focus on composing short looping animated GIFs, then creating editorial style animated illustrations from articles, and finally, producing a humorous animation with recorded dialogue.
CERAMICS HANDBUILDING for Children & Teens - 4:30 to 6:30pm
Instructor: Matthew Burcaw
Learn how to build pots, cups, plates, vases and other vessels in class using only the simplest hand building techniques. Begin with a slab of wet clay and through the course learn what it takes to sculpt your vessels from the bottom up. Decorate your creation with glaze before we fire them in our kilns for you to take for home use or display.

Family Fridays - 5pm to 8pm
- January 24 - Family Friday: Print your own Valentinesn with Tammy Wofsey
- Make a set of unique cards for Valentine's Day using a variety of print methods. We provide all materials including envelopes and dinner.
- February 28 - Family Friday: Graff Night with KayLove
- Learn to write your name in graffiti lettering using KayLove's hand-lettering alphabet. She will teach you her 3 color fade and drop shadows to make a dynamic tag of your name. Learn about the history of graffiti and how artists today use this style of art.
- March 21 - Family Friday: Origami Night with Michele Brody
- Learn the Japanese Art of Origami from BRAC studio artist Michele Brody to make a folded paper menagerie of creatures, puppets and more.
DRAWING AND PRINTMAKING for Ages 7+ - 10am to 12pm
Instructor: Tammy Wofsey
In this class students learn the skills of printmaking and drawing. Participants will make their own sketch books to be used throughout the semester, and will learn to draw from life and incorporate this in our printmaking artwork. Printmaking allows students to duplicate artwork. Printmaking uses material that can be drawn, carved or chosen from material such as leaves, cloth or paper that is then placed on an inked plate. Printmaking is best described as a surprise using ink and paper. Using our wheel press, students will hand craft and crank through their artwork.
2D, 3D AND MORE! for Ages 7+ - 10am to 12pm
Instructor: Dana Barnes
Everyday items that may or may not be recyclable are repurposed as art materials. Students will work with paper, fabric and paints.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY and Lightroom for Teens and Adults - 11am to 1pm
Instructor: Vicky Azcoitia
We will review photography concepts, talk about digital aspects, analyze photography and introduce digital editing with Adobe Lightroom. Learn about digital workflow from shooting to printing, and how to manage your digital images. Get closer to your camera and work hands on during class, practicing inside and outside BRAC by the Bronx River and rooftop!
PRINTMAKING LINOLEUM for Teens and Adults - 12pm to 2pm
Instructor: Tammy Wofsey
FIVE-WEEK CLASS starting January 11. Explore the subtractive process of linoleum printmaking. Students will learn how to carve into the linoleum, transfer an image to paper, and how to proof and print the linocut block.
2D, 3D AND MORE! for Ages 7+ - 12pm to 2pm
Instructor: Dana Barnes
Everyday items that may or may not be recyclable are repurposed as art materials. Students will work with paper, fabric and paints.
DIGITAL PHOTO AND VIDEO ART for Teens & Adults - 3pm to 5pm
Instructor: Gabriel Freire
FIVE-WEEK CLASS starting January 11. Photo manipulation and enhancement, filming and editing-we see it in the videos, movies, and advertisements all around us. In this course, you'll be able channel your own creativity, learning about the programs and techniques used to create captivating imagery. You'll gain experience with photo editing in Photoshop and Lightroom/Camera Raw. And then, you'll be able to create your own videos with film language and editing in Premiere Pro and After effects.
DIGITAL VIDEOGRAPHY for Teens & Adults - 3pm to 5pm
Instructor: Gabriel Freire
FIVE-WEEK CLASS starting February 15. If "a picture is worth a thousand words," then a video is priceless. Learn about the techniques and tools you can use to create strong and meaningful imagery for photography and film. We'll learn how to compose an image and then edit them using Photoshop and Lightroom/Camera Raw. Then, we'll explore film and editing vocabulary to see how we can create compelling, cinematic stories.

Cancellation Policy: If a class does not meet capacity, it may be canceled, in which case students will have the option to either take another class or receive a full refund.
