DRAWING for Children & Teens (Parents Welcome) - 11am to 1pm

Instructor: Tiffany Miller

Drawing is one of the oldest forms of communication and storytelling, and the foundation for many masterful works of art. Discover the beauty, magic, and power of this artistic discipline in a relaxed, supportive environment. With a focus on composition, we will practice our craft by sketching the landscape still life, abstract, and figurative drawings of master artists, contemporary artists, illustrators, and photographers. Students will be drawing with graphite, charcoal, color pencils, markers, ink, ballpoint pens, and pastels, and use kneaded and rubber erasers.

TEEN PROJECT STUDIO +2.0 for Teens and Young Adults - 2pm to 5pm

Instructor: Michele Brody

Teen Project Studio + 2.0 is an intensive, eight-week interdisciplinary arts program for teens and young adults ages 14 to 25. This FREE program is limited to 15 students by application.

The Summer 2024 session will begin July 8th, meeting Mondays and Wednesdays from 2pm to 5pm. The theme of this cycle is "ECO Fashion" (or "Trashion"), and it will explore how today's artists are tackling environmental justice in their practices. Students will use a variety of media, including natural fiber and found materials, to address fashion for the body and home. Activities include sun prints, paper making, and natural dye printing on natural fabrics, among other techniques. The program also includes field trips to eco-artist studios and natural urban spaces like the High Line, and will culminate in a fashion show runway at the “West Farms Rapids” Amphitheater with the Bronx River as its backdrop.
