PRINTMAKING & DRAWING, 11 AM - 1 PM
Ages 11-15, Teens & Adults
Ages 11-15, Teens & Adults
Instructor: Tammy Wofsey
In this class you will learn drawing and printmaking skills. You will make our own sketch books to be used throughout the semester, and will learn to draw from life and incorporate this in our printmaking artwork. What is printmaking? Printmaking allows students to duplicate artwork. Printmaking uses material that can be drawn, carved or chosen from material such as leaves, cloth or paper that is then placed on an inked plate. Printmaking is best described as a surprise using ink and paper. The process is like a sandwich created from your artwork. First, you ink the plate you have your artwork on, then the paper you want to print the art on is placed on top, followed by a felt blanket. Using our wheel press, you will hand crank through your artwork. Each layer is peeled off to get to the bottom of your print. Your paper is pulled off the plate to reveal a surprise picture that is in reverse from the original plate.
