Printmaking
Tammy Wofsey

Tammy Wofsey is a visual artist with a focus in printmaking and book arts. Her art works begin with a love for paper and the printmaking process. She established Plotzing Press, a publishing press and printmaking shop in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx. The letter press type and etching presses she uses are an intrinsic partner for all of the art work she creates. The paper-based prints she makes are both visual and tactile, combining strong images based on natural forms with deep embossed surfaces. Her work is in libraries, museums and private collections. As an arts educator, she have designed and conducted many outside community-based printmaking workshops for children and adults. This is done with her transportable retrofitted laundry press. By being outside with trees and nature this activates the collaborative artmaking process for multi-generational individuals that want to learn about printmaking.
