The Bronx River Art Center (BRAC) is excited to welcome back music ensemble Juneteenth LP (Juneteenth Legacy Project) to our event space with Black Innovation in Music, a musical performance featuring the talents of Sterling Strings and Shirazette Tinnin. The performance will be held Saturday, February 24th, starting at 4:30pm.

Black Innovation in Music will see Juneteenth LP’s longtime collaborators Sterling Strings and percussionist Shirazette Tinnin reimagine your favorite grooves with the gorgeous luster of their string sound, tight drum beats and crisp ensemble-playing. Please join us in this interactive concert and if you feel moved to sing and dance, absolutely no one is stopping you!

The performance acts as the grand finale to a week of Black History Month focused events and activities at BRAC. The Saturday concert follows BRAC's 4th annual "Winter Break Art Camp" of daylong art workshops in a multitude of art media for youth ages 7 - 18, including a four-part series of art workshops in collage and portraiture commemorating Black History. Taught by Gregory Mills, the community curator at The Art Gallery at Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office in Harlem, the last of the workshops will be offered on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM as a prelude to the performance. Students enrolled in Mid-Winter Break Art Camp are invited to attend the concert free! (workshop tickets can be purchased HERE).

The performance is also being presented in conjunction with exhibition Ingenuity: Art and Entrepreneurship in the Bronx, which opens to the public this Friday, February 23, in our storefront gallery, and can be viewed on Saturday before proceeding to the performance space for the concert. The Exhibition features the works of Bronx-based professional photographers who use their innovative business acumen and skills to thrive as working artists in New York City.
