For Schools & CBOs

BRAC on the Block:

The Bronx River Art Center has maintained a commitment to providing quality visual-arts and digital-media instruction for the past 25 years. As of Fall 2010, we will begin a two-year renovation of our facility, so that BRAC will be an inviting and safe haven for generations to come. During this time, BRAC will become even more fully integrated into the community, by taking our afterschool and Saturday classes into Bronx public schools and community-based organizations.

We welcome you to participate in these off-site classes, as well as your suggestions of a school or neighborhood center you think would benefit by BRAC's arts programming. BRAC will maintain temporary headquarters in the West Farms Square area, from where we will continue recruitment and registration, as well as offer some of our digital media classes. We look forward to seeing you at BRAC this summer, and "on the block" this fall and beyond.

Fee-Based Art Workshops for Community-Based Organizations:

Bronx River Art Center offers hands-on workshops for groups and organizations in a variety of professional art media, including Painting & Drawing, Printmaking, Ceramics, Filmmaking, and Digital Media. We also offer custom-built art curriculums focused on environmental issues.

All classes are two-hour sessions with a professional artist and include basic material costs (unless otherwise noted). There is a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 20 participants per class. All groups and organizations working with children must supply chaperones at a ratio of one adult for every 8 children. All child participants must be over the age of 8.

Fee-Based Workshops For NYC Schools:

Thematic Projects: Literacy Through the Arts / Environmental Stewardship
Our Fine Arts workshops are designed to enhance students' literacy by engaging them in artistic projects that develop their language, reading and writing skills. These team-taught workshops introduce students to new concepts, develop academic skills and inspire creative thinking, while learning about our natural environment.

Professional Development
These workshops are open to K-12 schoolteachers from all disciplines. BRAC teaching artists help design curriculum, emphasizing hands-on art projects that teachers can bring to their classrooms. Our instructors are Fine Arts degree-certified and bring to BRAC years of expertise in their fields.

Leadership Development / Promoting Respect for Multicultural Diversity
BRAC's workshops in the Fine Arts enhance youth's educational process through creative expression and improve their motivation about their futures. Our classes create am atmosphere that provides artistic enrichment, strengthens group dynamics, and cultivates understanding of cultural identities and histories.

Workshops can be purchased in a series of 3, 6, 9 or 12 classes that can be spread out over an academic year, or concentrated in a consecutive series. Please call for pricing and further information.
